 IMPROVED

the T2 translator recovery mode. Memory usage is significantly optimized. Analysis speed is increased;

 ADDED

a defect list editor command - the "Hidden sectors, capacities" menu option. It counts the amount of hidden sectors in the defects list, taking into account hidden tracks and zone allocation table;

 ADDED

In the HDD family selection dialogue for the utility and plug-ins the possibility to determine the family by HDD passport data has been added. Adjusted names and folders of HDD family profiles. Due to the folder names change, the resources that were previously saved into the folder with the "old" name will be available only if they are selected manually;

 ADDED

the "HDD profiles by families" mode (in the root of the utility mode menu, next to SMART cleaning). It transfers profile folders to the corresponding family folders;

 IMPROVED

work with module T2 data. If there is no "TIS" tag in module 190, the module metadata can be loaded from a file. If there are several tags, those that address the correct translator header are marked when selected

 ADDED

a new feature of "Extract second-level translator metadata" in the "T2 recovery" plugin section for extracting module 190 metadata from any dump;

 IMPROVED

ROM editor mode. ADDED module size control (the format does not allow a size larger than FFFF). FDir records located after records with ID=0 are not available for editing;

 ADDED

the "DCM ROM Info" plugin;

 ADDED

the output of "DCM ROM Info" information for module 0A data to the ROM data report;

 ADDED

the "View DCM information" mode for module 0A and C5 data. The same information is displayed in the "SA structure test" report. The report has been significantly redesigned. ADDED support for most C5 module formats;

 ADDED

"Read track -1" and "Read all tracks" in the track backup options;

 ENHANCED

the form of the "HDD configuration changing" mode;

 IMPROVED

the form of module selection by ID. Added description of the selection purposes;

 ADDED

the warning message that after blocking SA access via regions shift module 01 can be overwritten by the drive itself for the VeniceR Plus 2 Lite family;

 IMPROVED

the work with SA copies when reading modules via ABA. It was done for correct work with the drives, with module 190 placed in a separate region;

 IMPROVED

the node search mode for restoring the second-level translator;

 IMPROVED

the parsing of module 190 metadata for a more correct determination of its structure based on the module itself (in 7.5x it was determined by the family properties);

 IMPROVED

the parsing of the SMR zone table, added support for the VeniceR Plus 2 Lite structure (in 7.5x it couldn't be parsed so heads map couldn't be built);

 IMPROVED

the WD SED drive ROM unlock mode. Added support for new families. Now, if the HDD family is not recognized, it is suggested to select a compatible family by the CPU name (PCB main microchip);

 ADDED

a description of the modules;

 ADDED

flags "EgressEnable" and "SMREnable" for the "Edit HDD ID" mode. The configuration change menu has also been IMPROVED. Now the compliance of the current configuration state is checked when displaying the menu (previously changes already made in the Edit HDD ID form could be ignored);

 ADDED

the map of reading results with the ability to reread unread sectors in the "View and edit HDD resources" mode, when reading the module via ABA;

WD HPA (High Performance Architecture, WD Arch.7)

SEE OUR NEW VIDEO

 ADDED

 ADDED

Tech Unlock Type3, that was previously found on Tatsu family;

 IMPROVED

logical head map editing in RAM for drives with more than 16 heads;

 IMPROVED

reading in "SA LBA" mode. Now it shows a partial result “what's been read” if the reading has been interrupted. It showed empty editor in case of interruption before;

 ADDED

hanging processing during the modules/sysfiles reading and saving SA via ATA;

 ADDED

a new feature for running Utility in "Boot Code Start" mode for HDD profile parameters setup. Now the drive SN is taking from CAP (before it was taken from SAP);

 ADDED

an option do not ask about "Do you need to SpinDown HDD" for head map building in Data Extractor;

 ADDED

possibility to upload default values from Utility settings in HDD ID editor;

 ADDED

preliminary initialization through "T>F" parameters changing in HDD ID editor;

 IMPROVED

parsing and heat settings table building function for case of name parameters with spaces for "AFH master" (parsing worked not correct due to spaces in names before);

 ADDED

possibility to upload an object from file in "Service information objects" master instead of reading it from HDD (for more convenient view of plugin reports and writing good objects instead of damaged ones to the drive).

Data Extractor

 ADDED

new mode for dealing with SSD based on Silicon Motion controllers (ACELab developers are going to implement the same feature for other SSD Utilities in the future (Phison, Maxio, Intel, Marvell, etc)). This mode is similar to mode for dealing with T2 on SMR WDC Marvell drives. It allows restoring lost data deleted by TRIM, including cases after format. This mode includes two steps:

  • First step. In the Data Extractor task created based on Active SSD Utility as a source, appears an ability to add a drive in Explorer with "Physical reading mode" (available under right mouse click on the drive menu or 'Work with utility" button). It allows reading whole accessible addressable space for unencrypted drives. In case of encrypted drive (and with compression) - the whole space which was addressable ever, plus a cache region. This allows to reach access to all data which was written on the drive ever and which were not overwritten yet.
  • Second step. From the drive with "Physical reading mode", with using Translation information, it is possible to create a drive based on Map with versions of translation (option is available under right mouse click on the drive menu or 'Work with utility" button). On the built virtual partition, it is possible to use an automatic and manual methodics for required versions determination and access to data which is unavailable in common reading mode (for example, deleted files or files after TRIM command, "old' data and metadata). Useful for data recovery engineers and forensics scientists!
 ADDED

new storage format - "DSF" (Data extractor Storage Format) в DE Storage. It might be chosen during the task creation process. The main advantages are:

  • increased write and read speed with a slight increase in storage size;
  • better repairability;
  • monitoring of recorded data;
  • creating fewer records in the database, which has a positive effect on the speed when the source disk is large;
  • connection control if the task is on a remote computer;
  • simple format improving in the future from the Developer's point of view;

In the future, data imaging into "DE Storage" will be replaced with this format by default. In previously created tasks it is possible to continue to work with "DEFF" format (Data Exchange File Format).

 ADDED

support for Intel NV Cache (caching, most often using with hybrid Intel Optane drives like Intel H10/H20 and others, including “Intel Optane memory + HDD” arrays):

  • in DE RAID Edition array might be built by 'Autodetection RAID' option;
  • in RAW scan mode ADDED list of metadata and algorithms for sectors map building of cached data.
 ADDED

support for full encrypted LUKS partitions (Linux Unified Key Setup) and NAS-storage QNAP and Synology based on it;

 IMPROVED

stability for VDI and QCOW2 format virtual disks;

 IMPROVED

support for new Windows Storage Spaces metadata versions;

 ADDED

option for export map sector chains into *.csv format. Export process is taking into account the sequence of sector chains and upon completion of the process the file is automatically opening by the default application for *.csv files;

Ext4 FS

 ENHANCED

parsing for partition with META_BG;

 ENHANCED

Ext4 structures viewer for partition with META_BG;

 ENHANCED

section maps and metadata have been adjusted for partition with META_BG;
